Whilst I am most appreciative of ScoMo's JobKeeper program, we all need to be aware that it is not free cash. 457 Visa staff are exempt from the scheme which means they are out in the cold, unless we choose to fund them. Superannuation is payable on all staff on the full amount of JobKeepers and all leave entitlements, including Days In Lieu, continue to accrue. This, of course, considers that the staff are performing some kind of work during this period. If they stay at home, it's super free. Therefore, as an employer, I am incentivised not to try and keep my business open. Go figure? I understand that this pandemic is unprecedented in the modern world, but legislating on the hop is always going to come with some warts. I'm in, warts and all. To keep my people employed, engaged and mentally healthy. To keep myself mentally healthy. To remain relevant and keep in touch with existing customers and find new ones, to harvest when the world returns to the new normal. Who's with me?

And after September 27 when the Job Seeker ends.....what does the hospitality industry look like? It was barely profitable before this pandemic. Perhaps the industry players who can see this through may come out the other side galvanised with less competition. I'm with you!
